Tips #19 ::Questions to Lookout for

All of you know that the questions in the PMP® Certification examination test your knowledge and understanding of the project management standards and best practices. There is something which is not very clearly part of the standard but also gets tested. That is the understanding of professional and social responsibility

Most people are essentially honest and they want to carry out their businesses honestly. Yet, everyone of us gets trapped in situations where there could be some question about our own honesty, integrity, fairness and sense of responsibility in our own minds.

Let me give one example here. Your organization has taken up a project to complete a national highway. The customer wants a particular part of the highway to be ready in a very short period, which is practically impossible. What would you do in such a situation? Take up the project as a project manager? Well, ideally, you should clarify the matter to your senior management and the customer too. If clarifying to the customer means losing the order, would you? Or would you feel that it is better to explain the customer later? Most of us would go for second choice but ideally it should be explained to the customer even if it means losing the order. For the PMP® exam, you should select an ideal option.

There are many questions that test your professional honesty, integrity, fairness and sense of responsibility. A few of them will be obvious ones. But read the questions and the choices carefully before you answer those not so obvious questions.
